Challenge: A. Harry Moore School (AHMS) was originally founded in the 1930s as an innovative school for children with physical disabilities and now serves a population with low-incidence special needs. As the school's 100the anniversary is approaching, we decided to create a history project to honor the school and its students. Technology Intervention: Many of the AHMS students rely upon mobile technology for communication and as a critical tool for learning. The iBeacon project combines the use a proximity sensitive pod and a mobile application (Locly) to deliver information, images, and videos on screen. iBeacon has made this project accessible to our students, teachers, parents, and other visitors to the school.
Outline
This poster session will demonstrate: How to create an active iBeacon using Locly; and how the A. Harry Moore School History Project was developed and implemented. Participants will be able to download Locly and access selected pages that were developed for this project. Additional ideas for using iBeacon in a school setting will be shared.
